Helpdesk

Good morning,

I want to know how, if it is possible, to connect a physical powerOn button to my StromPi V3 Rev1.1[nbsp] with a XL battery hat.

The button is this one:

I would like to achieve the powering on and off of both Raspi and StromPi, could you please help be explaining how?
Thank you

Hi capocchione,

regarding your question as to how to use a different button as the power-on button.

Would you be so kind as to send us the datasheet of the button that you want to use so that we can give you the best possible setup for that specific button.

With kind regards

Thank you for your kind answer, sorry for the late answer, I cannot find the tech spec but on the page below you can find pretty much everything, even the connections. The button is the 19mm version.

Thanks for helping

Hello capocchione,

with the provided button you want to use, you just need to connect NO and C from that button to the StromPi.
To connect your button you need to find the PowerOn button pins on the StromPi, on Rev 1.1 these are the first 2 pins on the left side of the wide range input where it says "PowerOn" on the silkscreen.
After you have found these pins, you can simply connect your two cables to one of the pins each, alternatively you can solder the cables to the pins on the bottom of the StromPi. Be careful not to make any unwanted connections/shorts as this can damage the StromPi and the Raspberry Pi.
After you have connected your button to the StromPi, you have to note that you can only turn the StromPi back on this way after you have shut it down, if you want to shut down the StromPi with the same button, you have to rework the firmware of the StromPi to accomodate this.
Or you connect a second button to the GPIO Pins of the Raspberry Pi and write a script that sends the poweroff-command to the StromPi and the shutdown-command to the Raspberry Pi.

With kind regards
