Hi,

I am using strompi 3 with a 1000 mAh battery-HAT with Rpi4. When the sytem is running and i pull out the musb power source there is a very dim alternate red and blue led flashing and the green battery led does not glow[nbsp] and the RPI shutsdown. Now if i plug in the musb cable and remove it again the green led lights up and the system works on the battery. So it seems that a full running system can not switch from musb to battery but a system under boot can? what could be causing such a behaviour. Here is my full system status output-

Hello vinit,

it sounds like this could be a problem concerning the firmware of the StromPi. This problem could be solved by reflashing the firmware onto the device. You can find a detailed guide how this is done in the download section of this page.

Ofcourse you can contact us again at any time if the StromPi is still causing problems.

hello,

I flashed with firmware v1.72 but the output is still the same. A small correction in the previous observation. On removing the mUsb source the red Usb light still glows and there is an alternate dim flickering of the blue(wide) and green(battery light) and the pi shutsdown. When i plug in and out the mUsb again the source shifts to battery and green LED is glowing.

Another observation, if i switch the CAP Jumper to off then everytime i remove the mUsb source the supply switches to battery but the pi reboots.

Thanks ,

vinit

Hello,

this behaviour seems very unusual for a StromPi.

It does not look like there is a mistake in your configuration: The StromPi is supposed to use the battery as a power source as soon as the primary power source is not available anymore. The situation that it instantly shuts down and only switches to the other power source once the Pi boots up again is not something that should happen with this setup.

Because of this we are sure that this is a technical defect. We recommend sending your device back to your retailer and asking for a replacement.

Yours sincerely,
